Windows that open properly make a big difference to your living environment. Fresh air improves indoor air quality, reduces dampness, and prevents mould and condensation. Proper airflow keeps your rooms cooler, removes stale odours, and even helps lower energy usage by reducing the need for fans or cooling systems.

If your windows feel stiff, won’t open, or have faulty locks, RR Double Glazing is here to help. We restore smooth operation so you can enjoy clean, fresh air and a more comfortable home every day.

At RR Double Glazing, we handle all types of UPVC window hinge replacements across London & Kent, ensuring smooth operation and long-lasting performance.

• Friction Hinges – The most common hinge type, designed for everyday smooth opening and secure closing.
• Egress Hinges (Fire Escape) – Open wider for emergency exit, meeting safety requirements in certain rooms.
• Easy-Clean Hinges – Allow the window to swing for simple and safe cleaning from the inside.
• Restrictor Hinges – Limit how far the window can open, ideal for homes with children for added safety.

No matter the hinge type, our team provides same-day replacements, no call-out fees, a No Fix No Fee guarantee, and a 1-year warranty on all repairs.

At RR Double Glazing, we believe in honest and transparent service. That’s why we never charge a call-out fee. Our trained technicians visit your property, assess the issue, and diagnose the hinge problem at no extra cost.

You only pay for the work once it’s completed — no hidden fees, no surprises.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my window hinges need replacing?

You may notice your window isn’t closing properly, feels stiff, has gaps letting in cold air, or rubs against the frame. These are common signs of worn or misaligned hinges and usually mean a replacement is needed.

Can window hinges be repaired, or do they need full replacement?

In most cases, damaged or worn hinges are replaced rather than repaired. Replacement ensures proper alignment, smooth movement, and a secure seal, giving longer-lasting results.

How long does a hinge replacement take?

A standard hinge replacement typically takes 30–45 minutes per window, depending on the type and alignment needed. Our technicians aim to complete the job in one visit whenever possible.

Do you offer same-day window hinge repairs?

Yes, we try to offer same-day repairs whenever our schedule allows. Our vans carry a wide range of hinge sizes and types, so many repairs can be completed immediately.

Is there a call-out charge for inspection?

No — we don’t charge a call-out fee. You only pay once the hinge is successfully replaced, thanks to our No Fix, No Fee policy.

What type of hinges do you supply and install?

We install high-quality UPVC and aluminium hinges including standard side-hung, top-hung, heavy-duty, restrictor, egress, and easy-clean hinges. All replacements come with a 1-year guarantee on parts and labour.
